The $45,000 Springboard To Fame Plate (1175m) is the highlight event for juveniles at the popular Grafton Cup carnival and was won in resounding fashion by Cosmic Force gelding Ferinzo.
Trained at Gosford by Jake Hull he was second on debut earlier this month at Grafton to Aquafire, who started favourite today, but this time around Firenzo was far too good, opening up to win by three lengths.
Off the back of a narrow debut second a few weeks back, our @mmsnippets sold Ferinzo, a Jake Hull trained son of @NewgateFarm‘s Cosmic Force defeats his rivals with ease, scoring by more than three lengths at Grafton.@anz_news @TTRAusNZ @breednet @HunterBred @bruceaslade pic.twitter.com/0N9oN216Pv

Firenzo was a $190,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Cannon Hayes Stud draft for Michael Griffiths/John O’Connor and is the first winner for well related Sebring mare Emma Jane, whose dam is a sister to the dam of triple Group I winner Zougotcha and stakes-winners Persuader and The Actuary with the family also producing Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily.
Emma Jane has been a regular visitor to the Newgate sires and her yearling colt by Deep Field made $200,000 at Magic Millions this year for Cannon Hayes Stud and she is due to foal to Wild Ruler this spring.
Ferinzo is the eighth winner for Cosmic Force, who stands at Newgate a fee of $11,000.
