Situated 2km from the town centre of Scone in the Hunter Valley, NSW provides Cannon Hayes Stud optimal access to a range of first class equine and veterinary services synonymous to the region, and the added benefits of being a 5 minute drive to a regional centre. Convenient and safe farm access off the New England Highway allows Cannon Hayes Stud to readily serve clients from across Australia easily.
Set amongst 98 acres of fertile, undulating Hunter Valley irrigation country, Cannon Hayes grows a blend of natural and improved pastures, providing the base diet for reproduction, growth and performance. Paddocks are consistently rotated, rested and rejuvenated to ensure optimal feed growth. A hand-fed supplementary diet is tailored to individual equine requirements to help balance the natural pastures and boost performance.
Generous paddock sizes with safe and secure fencing, shade trees, shelter sheds and clean, secure water supplied through a concrete trough system, provides an ideal environment for resident thoroughbreds.

Bloodstock & Stallion
Mating advice, enquiries & bloodstock purchases. Pedigree analysis & selection, management & facilitation of matings.
Preparation & Sales
Preparation, marketing and sales attendance. All major Australian weanling, yearling and broodmare sales.
Agistment
Permanent and seasonal agistment for spelling, pre-training and horse requiring rehabilitation.
Broodmare
Maiden, dry and wet mare management, including foaling, handling and weaning. Permanent and seasonal agistment.

Dave Morissey and Lucy Cudmore, along with their two sons Teddy and James are the team behind the Cannon Hayes Stud name.
The Team
Cannon Hayes Stud is a family run business, supported by 30 years of Industry experience.
Dave Morrissey – Director/Owner
Originating from County Tipperary in Ireland, Dave commenced working with horses from a young age; helping in the racing stables of Mouse Morse and the Aga Khan. Dave commenced work with the Irish National Stud in Kildare and was then fortunate enough to secure a scholarship to travel to Australia. Dave then spent the next 18 years working within one of the Hunter’s leading Thoroughbred breeding farms; including working along side industry leaders John Messara and Sam Fairgray.
Cannon Hayes Stud was established in 2019 and is a product of Dave’s passion and dedication to the industry. The farms name Cannon Hayes pays tribute to his home land and represents his mother’s residency estate in Fethard, Tipperary. He takes tremendous pride in his work and has a strong and enthusiastic commitment to supporting owners in their endeavours.
Dr Lucy Cudmore – Director/Owner, resident Veterinarian
Dr Lucy Cudmore is an Equine Medicine specialist who has over 10 years of experience in the thoroughbred industry. Following University graduation she completed an internship at the Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital, followed by her residency and Masters at the University of Melbourne Equine Centre.
Lucy works full time for the Scone Equine Group in their Clovelly Intensive Care facility. Lucy is highly knowledgeable and dedicated to the health, safety and wellbeing of horses; this complements Dave’s passion and benefits the equine residents at Cannon Hayes Stud.
